This mecca of modern, small-scale furnishings caters to the condo crowd, but it’s no bandwagon jumper: the shop has been in business, in various locations, since 1977. Expect functional objects for small spaces; funky sectionals include a crimson chaise that morphs into a bed, and an ottoman that can double as a storage box. Dining tables can be extended to host big dinner parties, while a queen-size bed (from $1,898) has enough room to stash a body. For a cozy night in, there are stainless steel fireplaces (European, ductless and ethanol-burning, from $1,450). The store carries BDI’s full line, including attractive entertainment units with such innovations as hidden wheels for easy access to wires and speakers.
