Specializing in modern custom-designed furniture for small spaces, the tiny showroom (complete with tableaux of living room, dining room, bedroom and den) shows off the planning and professional design skills of Joanna Kakkavas and her team. The name of the game is versatility: shelving and wardrobe units hide Murphy beds; coffee tables morph into dining tables ($1,100); mattresses lift out of their hydraulic frames to reveal hidden storage. To fit a snug dining room, try a console table with two hidden leaves that fold out. If you are enviro-conscious, there’s a line of eco-friendly furniture that’s produced locally, using recycled, Forest Stewardship Canada–approved wood and finished with water-based stains and lacquers.
