In September 2005, Bruce Howard (owner of Howard & Co.) joined forces with neighbouring antiques dealer Bob Starr, and moved to a new, bigger location. Eighteenth-century English pieces remain the focus. A pair of 1790s mahogany hall chairs have shield-shaped backs painted with a family crest featuring a unicorn head ($7,900). On one visit, a 1790 D-shaped George III Scottish sideboard in beautifully figured mahogany, with its original colour and patina, was on offer for $24,800. Clocks are a specialty: a lacquered chinoiserie with a brass face was $18,900. Look for a selection of 17th-century French tapestries and a collection of early Canadian decoy ducks.
