Home & Garden GuideFurniture: Antiques and Vintage

HorseFeathersHome

The city’s most upscale antiques store has moved from Mount Pleasant to a new 55,000-square-foot showroom in the Castlefield Design District. While antiques remain the core business, a separate section of the showroom now features a select group of high-end contemporary (Bontempi Casa) and transitional (Ferguson Copeland, John-Richard, Lee) brands; the trademark flame stitch of Missoni adorns such accessories as rugs, bathrobes and cushions. The expansive offerings include antique art deco lounge suites, Kartell’s elegant Philippe Starck–designed Ghost chairs, a marble-topped 18th-century dresser and a contemporary upholstered bench. In the back, there’s more rugged fare, such as time-worn boys’ school chairs, sideboards and European pine armoires. Accessories are a mix of the old-timey (a vintage typewriter) and the sleek (a graceful Lucite lamp).
