A select few deco and mid-century pieces recently joined the Richens’ curated gathering of Sheraton and Georgian dining room furnishings. Which is not to say you won’t find the formality and grandeur befitting a fine antiques shop: a restored 1920s solid mahogany dining table that handily seats 12 ($4,950) keeps company with a 19th-century breakfront ($8,500) with its original bubble glass. Restoration work is done expertly by an English-trained cabinetmaker who has worked with Richens for 30 years. Since dining room chairs tend to fare less well than tables over the decades, the shop makes a good reproduction Sheraton-style chair with intricate inlay work ($1,250 per chair); for about $1,500 they’ll make a copy of an existing chair.
