This is the destination for designers such as Brian Gluckstein, who bring their lattes and shop Lapchis—high-end, hand-woven Tibetan area rugs that ring in at upwards of $8,000 for an eight by 10. But you don’t have to spend a ton of dough for a deep-pile shag ($8–$30 per square foot) or even one of the new cowhide rugs (from $1,695). Pros and amateur decorators alike swear by this hot spot for its vast area-rug range, which includes such designer favourites as the Frank Lloyd Wright and Martha Stewart collections, as well as the more pedestrian (but practical) broadloom choices. An in-house carpet laying and cutting department make this a full-service store, and a good choice for condo dwellers who require rugs to fit irregular spaces.
