The owner of this international chain of boutiques is the author of a tome about tiles (The Encyclopedia of American Art Tiles by Norman Karlson, if you must know). Unsur-prisingly, tiling possibilities abound in the modern showroom. Even the public washroom is a display, done up in hand-painted Portuguese wall tiles and a marble mosaic. There are prices for every budget, from $3 to $1,000 per square foot. For walls, you’ll find popular subway tile ($4 per square foot) and modern Chiaro glass tile ($39.50–$73.50 per square foot). For floors, there’s traditional porcelain ($4.15–$13 per square foot) and honed limestone ($9–$29 per square foot), among many other materials.
