Beautifully lit, this jewel-like boutique is a good emblem for West Queen West’s Art and Design District. Housewares and gifts, for instance, are displayed museum style, complete with gallery labels (designer, material, year). Stylish staples include Alvar Aalto vases and Masahiro Mori bowls. Serious design is mixed with cheeky charms, especially items from goofily stylish Italian company Alessi (including watches designed by architects Piero Lissoni and Andrea Branzi). Don’t be scared off by the big-ticket items (such as a se-nsuous Gehry kettle for $621). Look also for delicate Hakusan porcelain from Japan, and reissues of historically significant Bauhaus pieces. No wonder OCAD students spend long hours browsing here.
