Habitat for Humanity ReStore

The proceeds from this posh indoor garage sale go to Habitat’s homebuilding projects in Toronto, meaning that your purchase feathers not only your own nest, but someone else’s as well. But don’t just come here out of altruism—the store offers second-hand inventory that’s plucked from the renos and rebuilds of some of the city’s most stylish neighbourhoods. A recent trip found much in the way of bathroom fixtures, such as two sweet Kohler vanities: a stone-topped 58-inch version with four cupboards and drawers for $650, and a smaller one in maple for $300. A fun retro claw-footed bathtub, painted bright yellow, was $150; a cast iron pedestal sink was $300. Also spotted: salvage lead-inlay windows starting at $25, and rows and rows and rows of doors, such as a 60-by-80-and-a-half-inch double set of French beauties ($200).
