Crate and Barrel

If IKEA is the design destination for college students, Crate and Barrel is the same for newly minted grown-ups. Selling Euro-chic housewares on a shoestring, this U.S. chain is where the design savvy have scored classy, reasonably priced furnishings and accessories since the ’60s. Big-ticket items include a rustic cabinet ($369) and sleek media console ($689); such affordable accessories as brushed silver frames ($20–$45), glass apothecary jars ($20–$30) and Marimekko linens ($47–$190) add finishing touches.
