Designer Teresa Samad caters to modern-day princesses looking to rest their manicured toes on footstools upholstered in toile, or apply their makeup in Venetian-style mirrors hung above vintage vanities. Value shoppers will find bargains: just $3 and up for drawer pulls; $40 to $350 for wall-hanging mirrors, either newly made or reclaimed and restored; and $70 to $995 for most of the dozens of chandeliers—though prices can reach up to a still-reasonable $1,695 for a neo-traditional beaded and basket-shaped model made in New York. Samad can be hired for design services, from $75 for an initial consultation and $50 per hour; her areas of expertise include custom fabric work, such as billowing drapes, bed linens and tufted headboards. All in all, Samad’s aesthetic certainly suits the name above the door, which means “tiny castle” in French.
