Spot something you like at Joe Graafmans’ mid-century modern furniture shop, and you had better act fast. The quality is good, the prices are reasonable, and the stock moves quickly. Stop by on the right day and you might find an Arne Jacobsen Egg chair floating amid a motherlode of teak. Well-made, no-name pieces—representing the bulk of Graafmans’ vintage stock—offer the best deals. A small ’60s teak table ($395) comes equipped with built-in handles for easy carrying. For something larger, an extendable tinted glass–topped table with a chrome-steel frame ($695) exudes Camaro cool. Graafmans also stocks a wide range of space-age electronics, ceramics and “futuristic” lighting.
