Vintage prints of misty landscapes and stern-looking matriarchs decorate the peach walls, and a few pieces of furniture have impressive historical provenance: a pair of marble-topped side tables from the deco period ($495), an old leather vaulting horse from 1930s Toronto ($995), and a classic captain’s chair from the 1890s ($75). But most of the furniture in Harold Barrett’s long-running business (established in 1974) is just well crafted and made from quality materials—a mahogany games table with ball-and-glass feet for $595; a large mahogany china cabinet for $2,200; and an oak dining table with elaborate legs for $295. An unusually large West German vase, at the height of kitsch, is $175.
