With its pink neon sign and screaming teal blue exterior, it’s hard to miss this second-hand furniture emporium. And there are certainly flamboyant pieces inside: plaster statues of cheetahs and flamingos for example. But MM isn’t all about novelty items. Crammed together, the stock is a dizzying selection of new and used goods. Recent practical finds included hundreds of bar stools (from $40–$100), a used oak china cabinet ($750) and good new mattresses and box springs (queen-size set from $300). Whimsical offerings consisted of a ’50s-style kitchen table and chairs with chrome finish ($650) and a chair shaped like a high-heeled shoe ($420). The store also does a roaring trade in film and theatre prop sales and rentals.
