Long a favourite with hard-core cyclists, this Kensington mainstay also sells affordable bikes for easy riders. The cheapest option is to go for one of the used bikes, which hang on the back wall and sell fast. But the best of the lower-priced stock often consists of bike company remainders. On one visit, good deals included Norco’s 21-speed silver Yorkville ($340, regularly $449) with a shock-absorbing seat post and trigger shifting; for more serious cyclists, Norco’s Flat Bar Road Bike 2 ($899, regularly $1,769), noted for its light frame and 27 speeds, is ideal for commuting and training. For women, the Fuji Cambridge (from $289, regularly $399) is popular: it boasts an ergonomic saddle and a low, step-through frame. Folding bikes, such as Norco’s six-speed Origami ($299, regularly $449), are catching on fast.
