Don’t expect The Bay’s usual plushy room settings and carpeted quietude at this clearance outlet. Housed in a former Wal-Mart, the stripped-down space has abandoned all pretense of interior design: it’s just 80,000 square feet of last-call inventory. Expect discontinued models, showroom displays and warehouse damaged merchandise, but savings of 30 to 80 per cent off retail. Most upholstered goods are marked down by 50 per cent. Spot sales offer the best deals: a fleet of Brian Gluckstein cane and cherry wood occasional tables was recently marked down to $99 from $399. Brand name mattresses stand in neatly soldiered rows along the back wall, and while signs promise savings of 75 per cent, discerning the actual price requires a salesperson’s assistance. Elsewhere, there are large appliances, dining suites and the odd plasma screen TV. New merchandise arrives daily. A caveat: there are no returns, refunds or exchanges.
