Wedding and prom central, this all-Canadian chain rents at least 40 different styles of tuxedos and carries another 20- odd that are strictly for sale. Styles range from the current fave—a single-breasted jacket with one or two buttons, peak lapels, and pin, chalk or tone-on-tone stripes—to variations in brown, ivory and grey, and, well, pretty much anything you want—with the possible exception of the joke-prom special, powder blue. You can rent the whole kit and caboodle—jacket, pants, shirt, cummerbund, etc.—for $59.99 to $139.99 or buy a jacket and pants outright (from either the rental or the sale lines) for $299 to $995. At $795, the Canadian-made Savile Row brand flatter most figures and budgets (and drape beautifully) but Geoffrey Beene ($595) and Calvin Klein ($795 for a two-button jacket and flat-front pants) are also popular. Oscar de la Renta and Ralph Lauren are also available. The stores’ large selection of samples makes it easy to see what works.
