Black Market

Something of a Queen West institution, Black Market actually consists of two different stores. The flagship store is a vintage boutique stocked with a mixture of new clothes (think American Apparel basics) and second-hand fashion. The other Black Market, situated across the street, is a mammoth basement warehouse boasting rack upon rack of cheap clothing, accessories and jewellery. The never-ending selection of T-shirts (a mix of new and vintage) is organized into sections for adults, kids and girls. Prices range from $10 to $25 and the popular “three Ts for half-price” offer sweetens the pot. Printed hoodies start at $13 and come emblazoned with a range of provocative images, from skull and crossbones and anarchy symbols to a gun-toting Isaac Hayes. Men’s blazers and jackets can be had for $20 and heavy wool coats start at $30. Don’t miss half-price days (every Tuesday at the boutique, Wednesdays at the warehouse).
