Dubbed an “indie designer boutique and DIY studio,” this Leslieville shop is the brainchild of Nathalie-Roze Fischer, who pens one column for the Toronto Star (on DIY fashions) and another for Metro (on fashion), and also designs accessories. The shop’s aesthetic caters to the groovy locals who peruse the strip. But most of the merch—clothing, accessories, pillows, jewellery, beauty products—is priced below $100 (and many items are less than $20). Eighty-three local Toronto artists provide almost all of the gifty fare. Though the store is primarily stocked with women’s accessories, clothing and jewellery, don’t miss the adorable onesies made from vintage T-shirts ($20–$25) by SLO (one with a Led Zeppelin logo was a favourite), wittily illustrated pillows ($20–$45) by Kim’s Suitcase, and groovy hand-painted and silkscreened clutches (from $59) by Cha Cha. Two or three times a year, Fischer holds Crafter Noon Tea—a craft show–tea party combo that involves sewing, knitting and crafts, with a break for tea and homemade goodies.
