In the back of Sound Design’s Distillery District showroom are two home theatre set-ups that would make Tony Soprano jealous. The screen is perfectly crisp and incredibly bright, the bass vibrates through your whole body, and the chairs make you want to sink in for hours. Of course, at $120,000, it may even be out of Soprano’s price range. A more reasonable choice is the $30,000 set-up across the hall, which features a Sony SXRD projector and speakers from Monitor Audio. While home theatre is certainly a focus here, Sound Designs carries a range of high-end audio and video products from Marantz, Fujitsu and Sharp, and the whole store is set up to show off home automation systems from Crestron (starting at $10,000). Other cool toys for big boys include a USB-programmable universal remote control ($499) and a mirror with a built-in LCD television ($1,200) behind the glass.
