This Leaside shop really could not be better named: here you’ll find friendly clerks, friendly prices and a book selection that’s friendly to all tastes. There’s a generous range of audio books and a bulging rack dedicated to lust lit (i.e. Harlequin romances); titles in the Star Trek book series sold out at three for a dollar while much of the Chicken Soup for the Soul oeuvre sold quickly from a shopping cart outside the front door. (The store abuts a large Dominion.) Kids and young adults are sure to find something to tantalize them. Fiction and non-fiction titles are half of the cover price—a recent visit turned up Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer-winning The Road ($11) and Anne Applebaum’s Soviet history tome Gulag ($13). Upon leaving, we got a typically cheery send-off: “Cheers, mate, hope to see you again.”
