The glossy art books in the window only tell half the story. Along with the shiny tomes, this second-hand bookshop stocks titles (some 45,000) on every subject under the sun: from New Agey, ’60s stuff (tarot, eastern religions) to a “Great Wall of Literature” devoted to Annie Proulx, Michael Ondaatje and other contemporary lit crit faves. That said, the collection of art, design and photography books is substantial. Other notable sections include poetry, sci-fi and psychology. In a tiny back room, there’s a shrine devoted to the best of low culture, including mystery, horror, popular fiction and romance novels.
