Back in 1993, before Queen West became hipster central, music junkie Scott Cramer began hawking tunes out of their tiny shop. Now surrounded by trendy boutiques, this beat-up music gem still attracts a loyal following of diehards and penny-pinchers, drawn by the huge selection and big savings. It carries all manner of cool second-hand vinyl, CDs and tapes—from Kanye West to Frank Zappa—and DVDs (from about $5, new releases cost less than $10). For those whose tastes are offbeat and obscure, Cramer knows his stuff (he’ll help dig up your request for Captain Beefheart or Nurse With Wound). For the best deal, take home something from the $1 (or seven for $5) racks outside. Staff hand out 10 per cent discount cards at random or upon request.
