With its lofty, white walls, massive Frank Stella painting and temple-like reverence for high art, this Mirvish Village favourite is more civilized than Honest Ed’s (its neighbour), but it has the same flair for bargains. Most of the new books—including some highbrow fiction—are 10 per cent off and the remainders are even cheaper. But the display tables are where the deals are—massive art and design books priced up to 70 per cent off. On one visit, there were glossy tomes about Burtynsky, Sargent and Hockney. Key bargains are advertised every Saturday in The Globe and Mail and on their website, dmbooks.com.
