It’s hip for locals to list Osprey’s Heathlands Links among their favourite courses anywhere. Yet despite nearly universal acclaim for Doug Carrick’s inland links, the field is never busy. Perhaps duffers have been reluctant to patronize the course because of a lack of facilities—and perhaps their grumbling was finally noted. Osprey Valley now offers a driving range and practice green, as well as a clubhouse with a licensed restaurant and large deck. The par 71 layout has multiple challenges to test fortitude—especially if it’s windy (hint: it’s always windy). For every drive downwind, you’re looking at one into the teeth. Abandon all hope if it’s blowing across your path.
