Located a few kilometres from Orangeville, the nine-hole Meadow Land isn’t technically a links course, but it sure plays like one. It uses the natural lay of the land; the ground is as hard as a pool table, and the wind howls constantly. Whereas nearby courses are sure to raise your handicap, Meadow Land will yield a score you’ll brag about—provided you play short and hit the ball on the ground. Most of the par fours skirt 300 to 369 yards; only the eighth contains trouble, in the form of a pond fronting the green. Be prepared: ’70s-era green fees draw many beginners plodding their way around.
