With greens as flat as pancakes and fairways generous to a fault, this 19-year-old design by Robert Heaslip is one of the most forgiving in the GTA. Of the longer holes, only the 512-yard, par five sixth, which narrows and bends through one of the few stands of trees found on the 150-acre site, presents a serious challenge. Much stronger are the par threes, particularly the 135-yard 12th, where bunkers to the left and right guard a green backed prettily by a stand of pines. Otherwise, the only real trouble is posed by the occasional bunker, as well as the two ponds on the second and seventh holes. Kept in good condition, Bloomington is ideal for novice golfers and those who need to post a low score to feel a bit better about their game.
