Mill Run Golf Clubstarstar

With the 2007 addition of The Grind, the newest layout at this Uxbridge-area course, Mill Run now offers suitable variety with three distinct nine-hole options. The first set, known as The Grist, is more of a second-shot course, with generous landing areas off the tee but more precision required on approach. Its tantalizing 330-yard, par four fourth is a perfect example. A dry fairway and solid tailwind might encourage a mighty lash and a chance at driving the green; fall short and you have a sternly bunkered green to manage with your second, a challenge from any distance. The exceptions are the daunting collection of par three holes, each of which measures 190 yards or more from the blue tees. Once warmed up, you’re ready for the second nine, which is more heavily forested and requires well-aimed tee shots to stay out of the woods, let alone score. The final two holes are the strongest, each one a slight dogleg.

45 holes. The Highland: 18 holes, 3,500 yards, par 59. The Wheel: nine holes, 3,458 yards, par 36. The Grist: nine holes, 3,232 yards, par 35. The Grind: nine holes, 3,175 yards, par 36
