Nineteen-year-old Lakeridge is tucked into a pretty stretch of hills and farmland north of Whitby. The course drops into a valley with fairways framed by traps—70 of them, often placed to gobble up sliced balls. Many of the greens are crowned, and even accurate shots leak off the back or roll slowly down the front. Consider the fourth hole, a 528-yard par five, its fairway flanked on the left by a creek and on the right by trees and two fairway bunkers. The green, when you finally get a look at it, appears to slope back to front. Don’t be fooled: your putt could very well drain off the back left side. A creek bisects the course and comes into play on seven holes. Signature holes are the par three seventh, a 148-yard downhill shot across the prevailing westerlies, and the par four 14th, the most difficult on the course. A green on the 10th has extended the fairway by some 40 yards (now totalling 505 yards), giving heft to a hole that was formerly an easy go at eagle.

18 holes, 6,815 yards, par 72
