With green fees at less than $50, Kedron Dells is one of the best golfing values in the GTA. This environmentally friendly course is situated on 155 rolling acres in the greenbelt (just eight kilometres north of downtown Oshawa), and offers views of the sprawling countryside. Opened in 1974, it’s a mature, tree-lined course, a long-hitter’s dream at close to 7,000 yards from the tips; you will need your driver on most holes. Make sure you stretch before approaching the first hole, which is 587 yards from the back tees. A strong poke is needed if you hope to reach the green in regulation. The seventh is a picturesque 365-yard par four. Hitting from an elevated tee down into the valley, a long iron is sufficient to get home under par. The signature hole is the 10th, which features another hilltop tee. This dogleg left is a risk-reward hole; don’t over-hit your drive, as there is a creek that cuts across the fairway about 150 yards from the green. The 14th is a monster par three at 240 yards from the back tees. Considering the out of bounds along the left and the pair of traps guarding the green, coming away with a bogey on this hole is an honour.

18 holes, 6,700 yards, par 71
