Golfer’s Dreamstarstarstar

Rarely are golfers’ dreams nine holes long, nor are they played over dried-out fairways, nor do they have 90-yard blind pitch shots or a big sign that says “Golfer’s Dream.” Still, for all the hyperbole, this course has its charms, including a handful of links-style holes and well-maintained bent grass greens. After a featureless 284-yard, par four opener, the second tee at the upper ridge of the quarry boasts a 467-yard, slight dogleg par four. Big hitters can cut the corner on the short, par four fourth, but don’t try the same trick on the straightaway fifth: you’ll lose at least one ball every time. Overall, it’s an enjoyable nine, and a dry fairway makes for long drives—which may be just what you’ve been dreaming of.
