Meaford has evolved from a nine-holer built in 1934 into a scenic (if slightly eccentric) local favourite. Booby traps abound: three snaking creeks and 14 ponds complicate the 18 holes. Fairways and landing areas are tight, while tee shots from the tips can be blocked by overgrown trees. The most difficult hole is the 176-yard, par three ninth, which demands a precise iron shot to a green surrounded by water. Equally daunting is the 108-yard, par three 18th, the reason being the clubhouse patio that looms immediately behind the green—missed shots often elicit jeers.
