Lindsay Golf and Country Clubstarstarstar½

Opened in spring 2004, this Graham Cooke course makes the most of a relatively flat piece of Kawartha real estate. Quick, undulating greens are well bunkered, often guarded by large ponds or a winding creek. A tough day begins on the second hole, a 589-yard par five: start with a long drive through a narrow, tree-lined chute, followed by a mid-iron over a pond to the tight corner of the dogleg and, finally, a wedge onto a slick green obstructed by the creek. From there, the course winds in and out of the forest at the centre of the property. Wide open stretches provide ample opportunity to use the biggest driver at your disposal, but for the holes that cut through the trees, you’ll want to reach for your rescue club (and often a second ball). Lindsay Golf is one of the best values in southern Ontario.
