Though Lake Simcoe is close by, there is no view of the harbour; however, you will see plenty of water in the form of creeks and ponds. The second hole, a 180-yard par three, has water in front and back of the green, and all the way down the right side of the hole. It doesn’t look like it from the tee, but there is room to the left of the green. Another reason you can’t see the harbour are the many trees: the third and fifth holes are very tight dogleg par fives cut through dense forest. Keep the head cover on the driver until you get to number six. That’s where the course opens up considerably—becoming much less interesting as a result. There are a number of 330- to 360-yard par fours that begin to seem awfully similar after a while. A few little gems include the dogleg 417-yard, par four 14th, with a well-placed pond at the left-hand corner of the driving area; and the 565-yard, par five 16th, which needs two mighty pokes (or a layup and mid-iron third shot) to clear the second creek.

18 holes, 6,200 yards, par 71
