Appropriately named, this golfing gem, located not far from Bracebridge, is right in the heart of Muskoka. There’s no doubt you’re in cottage country as a pair of green Muskoka chairs greet you at each tee. What the course lacks in length (it’s slightly more than 2,700 yards from the tips), it makes up for in attractive holes and meticulous landscaping. The course opens with a short 320-yard par four to a green guarded by a large bunker; club selection is essential here. The par three fifth is long at 217 yards from the tips, and features a vast sand hazard. The signature hole is the eighth—a 348-yard par four that requires strategy and precision off the tee. Hit from an elevated tee down into a tight landing area; your approach to the green far in the valley below needs to be perfect, as the target is a postage stamp. All the while, you are surrounded by a scene out of a Tom Thomson canvas. With the addition in 2007 of a new practice facility and golf academy, this is one of the best values in the near north.
