In the late 1990s, owners Doug and Sandy Prozak took the original Blairhampton nine, divided it in two, and dropped another nine in the middle. Leaving the quaint but consistent front five intact, the Prozaks focused their energies on the northern part of the property, using its hilly wetlands as inspiration. On the sixth (412 yards, par four), the number one stroke hole, tall forest marches up both sides of the fairway, from swampy lowlands to the Haliburton heights. While the fairway is wider than on some of the later holes, the second shot is uphill to a large green, protected by a bunker on the left. Things are more difficult (and more spectacular) on the 526-yard, par five eighth. An elevated tee towers over a dangerous proposition: a large pond sits left, swampy forest right. Just 180 yards are required to reach the elbow in the fairway (don’t bite off any more), making the par five long enough for most golfers. But the real driving challenge comes on the 540-yard 12th, where anything less than a straight 235-yard poke off the tee will find you either in a creek, in the woods or at the front tees.

18 holes, 6,500 yards, par 72
