Royal Woodbine Golf Clubstarstarstarstar

If you can block out the 747s that seem as though they’re landing on your head on every other shot, this tight course, which runs along both sides of Mimico Creek, is an enjoyable walk, with some interesting and well laid-out holes. What the course lacks in length (it’s less than 6,500 yards), it makes up for with water hazards—there’s a chance to get wet on all 18 holes. There are also many great views; the course rises and falls in the Mimico Creek valley, with many elevated tees. Lots of doglegs mean the course also requires you to use every club in your bag at least once. The opener—a 427-yard par four from the tips, framed by weeping willows along the fairway—is a slight dogleg left that tests your mettle from the start and gives you a sneak peek of the challenge to come. Designed by Michael J. Hurdzan, an American architect renowned for his enviro-friendly designs, Royal Woodbine offers a great track in the west end of the city, easily accessible to business travellers and locals alike.
