This course is quite possibly the best value in the GTA. For less than $60 on a weekday, you can enjoy perfect, linoleum-slick greens and lush, healthy fairways, as well as a free yardage book (as part of the scorecard), which many high-end courses would gouge you for. The 101-year-old Lakeview is a prime example of a course that absolutely refuses to wither into obsolescence. Though just 6,340 yards from the blues, it plays much tougher than the 121 slope. The key to a good round here is to get the ball on the proper side of the hole. The first is a perfect example: it’s short (326 yards) and looks benign enough (not a single bunker or real trouble apparent). But with the pin at the back, hitting over is a very real danger; downhill and down-grain, the green runs a lot like a tilted snooker table, the speed making it virtually impossible to get close. Make sure to keep it short all day. Five and six (hole handicaps three and one) are nothing less than a 591-yard par five and a 441-yard par four. One of them will be upwind, the other down. No matter which way the wind is blowing, par-par is certainly an achievement.

18 holes, 6,340 yards, par 71
