Bronte Creek Provincial Park

In the 19th century, this provincial park, located midway between Burlington and Oakville, was farmland. Today, parts of it are gradually being returned to a wilderness state. Five years ago, a campground was installed; its 144 sites all have electrical hookups. The campground’s on-site washrooms, showers and laundry facilities make this a far cry from a rugged wilderness experience. Sites are big enough for families to sprawl and play. Families with small children will appreciate the gentle trails that offer easy hiking along wetland boardwalks and through trillium-studded woods. Young children will be well entertained over a long weekend by a huge swimming pool that covers almost two acres. Be sure to pay a visit to the animals at the children’s farm and play barn, and get the lowdown on the park’s flora and fauna at the nature centre.
