White Oaks’ subterranean spa offers 22 treatment rooms with a range of services reflecting the Niagara landscape. Consider the spa’s most popular treatment, Nectar of Niagara: it begins with a gentle exfoliation using a grape pulp mixture, followed by a warm preparation of white wine and honey poured on the skin. Next up is a body wrap, facial, hydrotherapy bath, and a final application of grapeseed oil and moisturizing lotion. The treatment uses the natural by-products of wine filtration from nearby wineries, yet the grape scent is very subtle. The White Oaks hotel, despite serving primarily as a conference resort, offers independent travellers a host of luxurious amenities, such as extensive sports club facilities and guest rooms with Frette linens and spa toiletries. A girls’ getaway package (“Girls Just Want to Have Fun”) packs up to four women into a suite for a slumber party, complete with dinner, in-room snacks, movies, breakfast and a one-hour spa treatment per person. White Oaks is situated across from the 27-hole Royal Niagara championship golf course (905-685-9501).
