One of Ontario’s largest spas, Ste. Anne’s boasts 28 treatment rooms and a vast menu of services. In the detoxifying moor mud bath, you float in a steaming hot tub of black mud, while an attendant dabs your brow with a cooling mask; a Vichy shower follows. A scenic walk through the 570-acre property, located northeast of Cobourg, will improve your circulation. The pools are spring water–filled; the outdoor pool is open June through September, thanks to natural gas heating; an outdoor lap pool and indoor pool with hydrotherapy massage jets are year-round options. A daily regimen of fitness classes includes meditation and yoga. In the new wing, six spacious suites are decorated with a mix of antiques and reproductions. The main building houses another nine rooms, some with antique beds and all with fireplaces, Jacuzzi tubs and views of the grounds. The deluxe Sentosa Spa Cottage features three guest rooms, a living room, a dining room, and the option of having a chef drop by to cook a private dinner.
