Built in 1927, this cozy lodge is an oasis of rustic luxury. Set in a 5,000-acre playground of lakes and forests in the Haliburton Highlands, it is vintage Canadiana—with a decadent European twist. Whether you stay in the pine lodge or a private chalet, expect creature comforts: down duvets, whirlpool baths (in half of the suites) and, in the chalets, wood-burning fireplaces. The lakefront dining room serves gourmet provençal cuisine. Lake activities include fly-fishing in spring and sailing in summer; in winter, cross-country skiers get a chef-prepared packed lunch for the trek to a remote cabin, while skaters glide over an illuminated lakefront ice rink.
Driving Time:
three hours.
When:
year-round.
How Much:
$156–$239 per person (double), includes breakfast, dinner and use of facilities.
