Dating back to 1939, the white clapboard Sherwood Inn remains one of Muskoka’s most charming resorts. It helps to have such a great setting: 1,560 feet of Lake Joseph shoreline, with stands of old pines. During the summer, the restored steamship Segwun adds to the sense of history—it pulls up to the main dock weekly so passengers can lunch in its dining room. As resorts go, Delta Sherwood is fairly intimate, with just 49 rooms. The cream of the crop is the one-bedroom suite above the boathouse, with spectacular lake views, a fireplace and private dock.
