This 400-room resort keeps the sporty crowd busy with everything from Hummer tours to horseback riding and snowshoeing to paddle boating on its sprawling 800-acre property west of Algonquin Park. Home to some of Muskoka’s best golf (on the rugged par 72 Deerhurst Highlands and the gentler par 64 Deerhurst Lakeside), the resort also entertains families with extensive programming, from a March break maple syrup fest to YMCA children’s Christmas programs. Adult pursuits include gourmet getaway weekends showcasing Muskoka products, and pampering in the recently renovated spa. Results-oriented product lines, including Pevonia’s anti-aging Myoxy Caviar and Pearl, have recently been added to the roster of Aveda treatments. Wide-ranging accommodations include corporate-style rooms at the main inn and family-friendly Junior Suites condos, with such conveniences as microwaves, fridges and laptop-sized desks.
