Lake Simcoe’s most famous resort, The Briars dates back to the genteel era of steamer trunks and white-gloved ladies, some of the lakeside cottages still evoke the old days. Outdoor highlights include a majestic avenue of spruce and pine, and a classic 18-hole golf course designed by Stanley Thompson and Robbie Robinson. Architectural treats include a 1920s art deco tennis pavilion, and the airy summer dining room in the 1922 clubhouse. Elegant dinners are served at the main inn.
