A five-minute walk from Lake Huron’s sandy beaches, the 1830s coach house is a lovely weekend retreat. A 2006 reno combined several small rooms into a handful of spacious suites. Among the expanded rooms is number 37, where sliding doors open onto a balcony with a garden view. Old-fashioned touches, such as antique pine furnishings, work well with modern upgrades that include larger bathrooms with oval soaker tubs and separate showers. The dining room at the Inn focuses on local ingredients and draws diners from afar. Bayfield’s handsome 19th-century Main Street has several shops and galleries.
