Pretty River Valley Country Inn

  • 529742 Side Road 3031
  • Nottawa
  • 705-445-7598
When it first opened as a B&B back in the ’70s, the inn was hugely popular with skiers, thanks to the novelty of having a fireplace in each room. While that hasn’t changed, in 2007 new owners Linda Proudfoot and Paul Bilewicz updated and expanded the inn. Six original studio rooms in the main house still feature homey touches, such as handmade quilts on pine cannonball beds. For luxury, the “croft” suites, just a few minutes away from the main inn, are some of the most attractive accommodations to be found anywhere in rural Ontario. Three two-storey suites each boast a double Jacuzzi that opens onto the main bedroom, a fieldstone fireplace, and a flat-screen television in a comfy sitting area. Being handy to both Blue Mountain and the Bruce Trail, this inn’s emphasis is squarely on the outdoors. Even if you never leave the 125-acre property, you can spend the day picking apples in the organic orchard, and visiting the reindeer herd and miniature, Icelandic and Percheron horses. In summer, an outdoor saltwater swimming pool offers views of the Niagara Escarpment. Hosts will drop off and pick up guests on the Bruce Trail and at Eigensinn Farm restaurant.
