On the shore of Lake Erie, Port Stanley is a town with two sides: the west side of the harbour, where beachgoers and bikers head for fries and chili dogs, and the increasingly gentrified east side, where home decor boutiques and gift shops have sprung up in renovated net sheds. On the gentrified side, the Inn on the Harbour lives up to its name, with fishing tugs moored just steps from its patio. Built in 2001, the inn has a Cape Cod style that fits perfectly with its maritime surroundings. All 16 suites enjoy views of the busy harbour and the silos across the water. Individually decorated rooms range from the boutique hotel–style earth tones of Suite 4, with its king canopy bed, in-room double Jacuzzi and electric fireplace, to the blue and cream French provincial theme in Room 10. This town is known for its white sand beaches—one a sheltered family spot, the other a longer stretch of sand appealing to a teenage crowd. Even in cooler weather, the harbour location is alluring, especially from the second-floor lounge, with its corner fireplace tucked in between two window seats overlooking the water. Breakfast is served on the patio or in the nautically themed coffee bar.
