Some of the most attractive hotel rooms in Kingston are found in this handsome historic inn, conveniently located between Queen’s University and downtown. Built as a bank in 1845, the stately limestone building became a men’s club in the early 20th century, attracting such notable guests as Alexander Graham Bell. Although it has been thoroughly renovated, the men’s club atmosphere can still be felt in the grand scale of the high-ceilinged ground-floor library lounge, with its leather chairs and dark wood panelling. Some of the 13 guest rooms feature exposed-brick or stone walls, and most have gas fireplaces, large windows and a clean, elegant decor in the style of a boutique hotel. All rooms have televisions, telephones, high-speed Internet access and air conditioners.
