Situated in a neighbourhood of historic homes, the 1909 Eden Smith–designed house was once a doctor’s residence. Today it makes a comfy weekend retreat. Favourites include Room 6, with its Moroccan tapestry, king-size canopy bed and gas fireplace; and the Marie Antoinette–inspired Room 7, with its tall gilded mirrors and candelabra. The former doctor’s office is now a two-bedroom suite with a sitting room and a porch. A spa on the lower level offers a full-range of services. Executive chef Eric Madden offers complimentary cooking and wine-tasting courses by arrangement. In summer, Theatre Collingwood (1-866-382-2200) boasts professional productions at the Gayety Theatre.
